The Blue Green Chromis (Chromis viridis) is one of the most popular and beginner-friendly reef fish, known for its shimmering blue-green coloration and peaceful schooling behaviour. When kept in a group, they create constant motion and sparkle in the water column, making them an excellent choice for lively reef displays.
These fish thrive in established marine aquariums with plenty of swimming space and rockwork. While generally hardy, they do best in stable systems with good water quality and consistent feeding.
Feed 1–2 times daily with a varied diet including frozen mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, plankton-based foods, and high-quality marine flakes or pellets.
Provide a mature reef aquarium with strong water flow, open swimming areas, and ample live rock for shelter. Keeping them in groups helps reduce stress and encourages natural schooling behaviour.
