The Emerald Brochis Catfish (Corydoras splendens) is a striking and robust member of the Corydoras group, known for its shimmering emerald-green body and larger, more solid build compared to typical cory catfish. This peaceful species is an excellent choice for larger community aquariums where it can school and actively forage along the substrate.
Highly social and gentle, Emerald Brochis thrive in groups and spend much of their time sifting through sand and fine substrate in search of food, helping maintain a clean and active aquarium floor.
Feed sinking foods daily including pellets and wafers designed for bottom dwellers. Supplement with frozen or live foods such as bloodworm and brine shrimp to support health and natural behaviour.
Best kept on soft sand or fine gravel to protect barbels. Provide plants, driftwood, and shaded areas. Keep in groups of at least 6 to encourage natural schooling and reduce stress.
Suitable for peaceful community aquariums including tetras, rasboras, guppies, dwarf gourami, and other non-aggressive species. Avoid aggressive or predatory tankmates.
A beautiful and active bottom-dweller, the Emerald Brochis Catfish adds shimmer, movement, and functionality to larger freshwater aquariums while remaining peaceful and easy to care for.
