The Merten's Butterflyfish, also known as the Orangetail Butterflyfish, or Crowned Pearlyscale Butterflyfish, is a blue silver colouration with black margins on it's body scales, giving it a criss-cross pattern and pearlescent sheen. Most of it's posterior is orange and it has a silver-edged black stripe through the eye.
It may reside in a 545L or larger aquarium provided that it is well-maintained and relatively peaceful. It may be kept with other Butterflyfish if they are introduced to the tank at the same time. As with other Butterflyfish, The Merten's Butterfly is not considered reef safe.
This fish should be fed a varied diet of meaty foods including crustacean flesh, mysis shrimp, and frozen preparations several times daily.
